Gifting pages · A Letter for You

A digital love letter that opens to a song written for them

Write them a letter, seal it in a cream envelope with their initial in the wax, and send it as a link. When they open it, the seal cracks, the letter settles over your photo and a song written from your story begins to play.

Included with your US$29.99 song. Hear your song free before paying; the gift page and Pocket Island come with it.

  • In this example, a wax-sealed envelope for Theo opens to an anniversary letter, a kitchen photo of the two of them and his song, its words lighting up as it plays.

The example

Elena’s letter to Theo

For five years Theo has written the grocery list on the back of an envelope stuck to the fridge, and he always saves the last line for Elena: “flowers for E”, “more of you”, “marry me again?”. She kept every list in a glass jar. For their fifth anniversary she writes back, for once: a letter, and a song.

Coffee, eggs and something green

Bread, the good kind, if they're out

Stamps and batteries and onions

That's what lists are all about

But there's always one more line

In pencil, right before the end

"Flowers for E," or "More of you,"

Or "Marry me again"

The bottom line is always me

Under coffee, bread and tea

Five years of lists, I kept them all

In a jar out in the hall

You never say it out loud, Theo

You just write it, small and true

So I'm writing one line back

My bottom line is you

There's the one from our first winter

"Fix the heater, call your mom"

There's the one from moving Sunday

"Tape and boxes, keep me calm"

There's the one from when I lost my job

When you wrote, "We'll be fine"

Underlined it twice in pencil

And I believed you every time

I don't leave you little notes

I've never been the type

So I saved up five years' worth

Of the things I meant to write

The bottom line is always me

Under coffee, bread and tea

Five years of lists, I kept them all

In a jar out in the hall

You never say it out loud, Theo

You just write it, small and true

So I'm writing one line back

My bottom line is you

My bottom line is you

The Bottom Line

Five years of grocery lists, and you always save the last line for me. This time the last line is mine. Happy anniversary, Theo. Love, E

What happens when they open it

The wax seal cracks, the envelope opens and the letter settles over your photo. The page is lined paper with a postage stamp, a postmark and photo corners; on a computer it opens flat into a two-page spread.

What to put in your letter

The song carries the big feelings. The letter only has to sound like you. A few things that work:

Writing several letters for different days? One gift page holds one letter and one song. For a set of “open when” letters that unlock on dates you choose, use Pocket Island, which comes with the same song. See the video game gift

  • Start with a moment only the two of you share: a place, a joke, a habit.
  • Say the thing you don’t say out loud often enough.
  • Keep it short. Your note can be up to 700 characters, and three to six sentences is plenty before the chorus.
  • End with what comes next: tonight, this year, the next trip.
  • Sign it the way you sign everything else.

Questions about digital love letters

How do I make a digital love letter?

Start with the song: tell us how you met and what you love about them, then hear two complete versions free with a free account. Choose one (US$29.99), open the gift editor, choose A Letter for You under Change design, write your letter, add photos and save. Then send them the link.

Can I add music to a digital love letter?

Yes, and here the music is the point. The letter opens to an original song written from your story and sung with their name, not a track borrowed from a playlist.

Is there a free digital love letter website?

Trying this design with the sample song is free, and so is hearing two versions of your own song. Sending your own letter needs your song, which is US$29.99. Free letter makers usually let you add a track that already exists; this letter opens to an original song about the two of you.

How do I send it?

Copy the private link into a text, email or chat. Or print a QR card at home and slip it into a real envelope; scanning it opens the letter.

Can I add photos?

Yes, up to 30. They sit on the page with photo corners and play as a slideshow with the song, right in the browser.

Can I make “open when” letters this way?

One gift page holds one letter and one song. For several letters that unlock on dates you choose, use Pocket Island, which comes with the same song: each gift on the island can stay locked until its day. See how the island locks gifts.

Will they need an account or an app?

No. The letter opens in the browser on their phone or computer, with no sign-in.
